    Mental Fitness Centres

Head In The Game’s Mental Fitness Centres provide welcoming, accessible spaces where local people can connect, become active and look after their mental wellbeing. The approach is built around early intervention and prevention, offering low level mental health support before someone reaches crisis point or requires more formal clinical services. By combining sport and physical activity with conversation and peer support, the centres remove many of the barriers and stigma that can prevent people from asking for help.

The model works because it is rooted within the community and designed around activities people enjoy and feel comfortable attending. Whether someone comes to play pool, table tennis or darts, or simply to have a cup of tea and a chat, they become part of a supportive network where friendships, confidence and resilience can grow. These centres create trusted local places where people feel seen, connected and supported, helping to reduce isolation while strengthening the overall mental fitness of the community.
