HITG Announces New Partnership With Herne Bay Sports Hub To Launch Mental Fitness Centres

Head In The Game is proud to announce a new partnership with Herne Bay Sports Hub, creating an exciting opportunity to expand mental fitness support, community wellbeing activity, and suicide prevention work across Herne Bay and the wider Canterbury district.

Beginning in June 2026, the partnership will see Head In The Game launch the Mental Fitness Centre from Herne Bay Sports Hub, operating 3 days a week and building on the charity’s growing presence in the area where it already runs weekly sessions including walking groups, table tennis, tennis, netball and football.

This collaboration represents a shared commitment to bringing people together through inclusive activities such as Darts, Pool and Table Tennis, improving mental wellbeing, and making community spaces work harder for local people.

By working together, Head In The Game and Herne Bay Sports Hub will create more opportunities for residents to access sport based support, reduce isolation, improve confidence, and connect with others in a welcoming environment.

The partnership will also help strengthen the Hub as a key community asset, increasing daytime use, creating stronger local engagement, and supporting long term sustainability, with both organisations hopeful this is the start of a lasting relationship that continues to grow in the years ahead.

Head In The Game CEO, Mark Pinkney said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be entering into this partnership with Herne Bay Sports Hub. This is about much more than using a venue, it is about two organisations coming together with a shared belief in the power of community, connection and prevention.

Mental fitness is just as important as physical fitness, and by working together we can create more opportunities for people in Herne Bay and Canterbury to access support before they reach crisis point.

We would like to thank everyone at Herne Bay Sports Hub for having the vision to recognise the value of our work and for backing a partnership that we hope will grow and develop for many years to come.”

Through this partnership, Head In The Game will continue its mission of preventing suicide, improving mental health, and helping people become healthier through sport, movement and human connection.

Together, both organisations look forward to creating a healthier, more connected community.
