Mental Fitness in Herne Bay: Improving Wellbeing Through Sport

Bringing The Community Together Through Free, Friendly Sporting Activities

At Head In The Game, we believe that movement is medicine—not just for the body, but for the mind too. That’s why we’re launching a year-long mental fitness project in Herne Bay, in collaboration with Herne Bay PCN and Red Zebra. Our goal? To improve the mental and physical wellbeing of local residents by providing free, accessible, and inclusive sports activities for everyone.

Why This Matters

Life can be tough, and mental health struggles don’t always have obvious solutions. But we know that staying active, feeling part of a community, and having fun can make a huge difference.

  • Exercise helps manage stress, anxiety, and low mood.
  • Being part of a group reduces isolation and boosts confidence.
  • Regular movement builds resilience and strengthens mental fitness.

This project isn’t just about getting people active—it’s about creating a safe, welcoming space where everyone can feel comfortable and supported.

What’s On Offer?

Over the next 12 months, we’ll be running a variety of free sessions at venues across Herne Bay, including:

Walks – A relaxed way to clear your mind, connect with others, and enjoy the fresh air. Suitable for all ages and abilities.
Football – Fun, non-competitive sessions where you can let off steam and be part of a team. No experience needed.
Tennis – A great way to build skills, boost confidence, and stay active. Friendly and welcoming for all levels.
Netball – A fast-paced but fun social sport that keeps both your body and mind engaged.
Table Tennis – A relaxed, engaging activity that’s great for focus and coordination.
Badminton – An easy-to-pick-up sport that helps improve fitness and mental agility.

All sessions are non-judgmental, non-competitive, and family-friendly—meaning they’re perfect whether you’re a complete beginner, just getting back into activity, or want something the whole family can enjoy.
