Head In The Game Wins ‘Startup Charity’ At The Kent Charity Of The Year Awards 2025
12th September 2025
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Head In The Game has been named Startup Charity of the Year at the 2025 Kent Charity of the Year Awards. To be recognised in this way, less than two years since gaining our charity status, is an incredible milestone for us.
It was an honour to share the room with so many inspiring charities doing such important work across Kent. To have been chosen in a category alongside three other brilliant organisations is something we do not take for granted. We are deeply grateful to the judges for placing their trust and belief in our mission.
This award belongs to every single person who has been part of our journey so far — our staff, our volunteers, our trustees, our supporters, local businesses, and the wider community who have stood behind us. Without you, none of this would have been possible.

Winning this award means more than recognition. It helps us shine a brighter light on suicide prevention and the importance of improving mental fitness through sport. With this week being Suicide Prevention Week, the timing feels especially meaningful. Our mission has always been to reduce stigma, create safe spaces, and empower people to take proactive steps in looking after their mental health. This award helps amplify that message.
Mark Pinkney, Co-Founder and CEO of Head In The Game, said:
“Starting a charity from scratch is incredibly challenging. It’s 24-7, it’s lots of long nights and weekends, but this award is in full recognition of the incredible hard work of the staff, volunteers, and all of the people who continue to push the message of positive mental fitness practices across Kent and South London. I’m incredibly proud to be the CEO of this incredible charity.”
