What This Means For Our Community
Life in Bexley brings a wide range of experiences and challenges, and we know that mental health does not look the same for everyone. At Head In The Game, we understand the unique pressures facing people across the borough. From young people feeling overwhelmed by school or social media, to adults managing work stress or family responsibilities, to older residents facing loneliness or health concerns, we are here to support them all.
We believe that movement is a powerful tool for improving mental wellbeing. Exercise helps reduce stress, ease anxiety, improve mood and boost sleep. But this project is about much more than getting active. It is about building connection, trust and confidence. It is about creating welcoming spaces where people feel safe, supported and free to be themselves.
Our sessions will take place across all parts of Bexley, including Bexleyheath, Sidcup, Erith, Crayford, Welling, Belvedere and Albany Park. Each programme is designed with the community in mind. Whether it is walking football, social tennis, group fitness, netball or simply a chance to connect over a shared activity, we want everyone to feel part of something positive.
At Head In The Game, we are proud to bring together trained coaches and mental health mentors who create a supportive environment from the very first session. This is not a quick fix or a tick-box exercise. It is a long-term commitment to improving mental wellbeing and building stronger communities in Bexley.
With the support of Bexley Council, we are delivering a borough-wide project that reaches people who need it most. Because everyone deserves to feel mentally strong, physically well and part of a caring community.
The Impact We Want To Make
We believe this project can make a real difference in reducing mental health stigma and creating a stronger, more connected community. By the end of the year, we hope to see:
- More people engaging in regular physical activity
- An increase in social connections and friendships
- Greater awareness of mental health support available locally
- People feeling more confident, less stressed, and more in control of their wellbeing
