‘Off The Bench’ Coming To Thanet In June!

A brand new community service combining Head In The Game’s football related mental health support with the construction industry is coming to Thanet.

Funded by The National Lottery Community Fund’s new ‘Know Your Neighbourhood’ initiative, the project is aimed at supporting men in the construction industry as well as those who want to volunteer and give something back to their local community.

‘Off The Bench’ will encompass all of our football and wellbeing support to improve mental fitness, confidence and help individuals gain valuable training & coaching skills.

Speaking at the launch of the new service HITG’s CEO Mark Pinkney said “The awareness of mental health challenges in the construction industry has been a lot more prominent since the pandemic began. It’s an industry that sometimes gets forgotten in terms of support. We want to break that stigma and work with both businesses in the sector and their staff to educate as many individuals as possible about positive mental health practises”

The service will enable us to work with multiple groups around mental health training, football volunteering, gaining FA level coaching badges and the in person analysing of premier league and EFL matches to help improve the communities that Thanet serves.
